Course Description

Save a bundle and receive 30% off the individual course rate when you register for both BIOL 101 and BIOL 102!

Bundle Courses:

BIOL 101 | Cell Biology Structure and Function I

BIOL 102 | Cell Biology Structure and Function II

These courses examines the fundamental concepts underlying biomedical science, including the structure and function of biomolecules, such as proteins, enzymes, carbohydrates, lipids, and DNA, as well as the structure and function of cellular components, such as membranes, vesicles, organelles, and the cytoskeleton. This course is designed for students who may have previously studied biology but need a refresher on the main concepts in biomedical science as well as students without a science background who wish to gain a foundation in basic biological mechanisms.

Learner Outcomes

When you complete these courses successfully, you will be able to:

  • Describe the characteristics of the major cellular macromolecules
  • Explain the structure and function of major cellular components
  • Present detailed concepts of a chosen biology topic
  • Build and hone critical thinking skills
  • Trace the flow of genetic information at the intracellular level, from DNA to protein
  • Summarize the cell cycle
  • Analyze examples of cell cycle dysfunction
